Spicy Hunan Rib – Gan Guo Pai Gu

When it’s cold, I always feel like my body needs more spiciness. That is why we are having Spicy Hunan Rib for dinner today.

Spicy Hunan Rib is a little twist of Spicy Hunan Potato.

Spicy Hunan Rib – Gan Guo Pai Gu

Ingredients: (serves 2)

800g pork ribs (chopped)
1 white onion
2 chilli peppers
2 cloves of garlic
10g ginger
1 tbsp dark soy sauce
1 tbsp hot bean sauce
salt
cooking oil

  1. Bring a pot of water to a boil over strong heat, put the rib chops in to boil for 3 minutes. Take out and rains clean. Drain the water. Place the ribs in a big bowl, add dark soy sauce, mix until the ribs are covered by dark soy sauce evenly.
  2. Cut the chili peppers, onion, ginger and garlic into slices.
  3. Heat up a frying pan over strong heat, brush a thin layer of cooking oil. When the pan is hot, put the ribs in to fry. Turn constantly until both sides turned golden brown in color. Take the ribs out for later use.
  4. Heat up a wok with 2 tbsp of cooking oil over strong heat, add 1 tbsp of hot bean sauce, stir until the sauce bubbles. Put chilli pepper, ginger and garlic in to stir-fry. Add onion slices, stir for 2 minutes. Put the ribs in, add a pinch of salt, keep stirring until the broth is all gone. Take out and serve with boiled rice.
